Enhancing Medical nutrition therapy adherence among GDM mothers: Need for digital solutions and support systems
Main Article Content
Abstract
Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) complicates nearly 4 million pregnancies annually in India, with significant maternal and fetal risks. Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), though essential, is not consistently implemented at the primary care level. Strengthening PHCs with trained nutritionists and integrating food diary-based counseling can enhance dietary adherence. Digital solutions like mobile apps, SMS, and IVR systems offer accessible, real-time support for GDM management. Training and incentivizing ASHA workers can ensure personalized care and expand the model to other forms of diabetes.
