Prof. Abhaya Indrayan Award for Excellence in Epidemiology / and Biostatistics
This award is being instituted by Professor Abhaya Indrayan, Delhi, by Contributing Financial Assistance for the purpose.
The award and its periodicity
The name of the award is Prof. Abhaya Indrayan Award for Excellence in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and related subjects, including the evidence-based science. The award is to be given each year- subject to the availability of suitable entries in a particular year, Scientist who has contributed significantly to the cause of Epidemiology and/or Biostatistics and related subjects, including the evidence-based science. In case, no suitable application is received, Award Committee constituted by EFI Governing Council may nominate a scientist for the award. The nominations received in a particular year should be valid for that year only.
Nature of the Award
Prof. Abhaya Indrayan Award for Excellence in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. (Epidemiology and related subjects, including the evidence-based science)
- Award of Rs 10,000 (to cover travel and local hospitality of the awardee to attend EFI Annual National / Scientific Conference).
- Citation and a Gold Medal within Rs 5,000/-.
- The award shall be given in the Annual National Conference of EFI.
- The Awardee will deliver an Oration at the EFI Annual National / Scientific Conference.
- The day and time will be decided by the Organizing Secretary of the EFI Annual National/ Scientific Conference of that year.
Who can Apply:
Eligibility Criteria**:
Applicant of the award shall have to fulfil the following requirements:
A Scientist engaged in any area of Biostatistics / Epidemiology and related subjects including the evidence-based science, who had significant contribution and value addition to existing knowledge in the field in Epidemiology and/or Biostatistics or Epidemiology and related subjects, including the evidence-based science, shall be eligible for the Award.
The Scientist should have been actively engaged in the specialized field for at least over ten (10) years in which he/she and has shown sustained research efforts. The research work should have been carried out in India and published in scientific journals of repute.
Applicant should (preferably) have PhD/ MD/ MS or equivalent Degree.
**In an exceptional situation the Award Committee constituted by EFI Governing Council can directly nominate a scientist for the award.
Submission of Entries:
Entries of the Award shall be in form of nominations/ applications).
The nominations, addressed to the Dr S K Singh, Prof. of Epidemiology, King George’s Medical University: Convenor (Email: [email protected]) with a copy to Secretary, EFI. (Email: [email protected]), shall be submitted on the prescribed format by email (online only) before the deadline set by the Secretary for the purpose.
The consent of the nominee should also be obtained.
Evaluation of Entries:
On receipt of entries the Secretary, EFI, will check and verify them for the eligibility requirements. Only entries found valid, will be forwarded to the Convenor/Chair Award Committee constituted by EFI Governing Council, for further processing and evaluation.

ELIGIBILITY The criterion for selection of the award is the significant contribution and value addition to existing knowledge in the field in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Epidemiology and related subjects, including the evidence-based science by a scientist in which he/she has been actively engaged for at least over ten (10) years and has shown sustained research activity. Research work should be carried out in India and published in scientific journals. |
